For gamers who were born or raised in the 80s and 90s, surely you are no stranger to the name Sega, one of the leading gaming giants in the world. In that era, Sega was known for its console products. However, they also created various games that were iconic at that time.
As a game company that has lasted quite a long time, Sega certainly has many of their games and franchises, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Yakuza. Apart from these two games, there are actually many other good Sega games which, unfortunately, are simply forgotten. In fact, these games have great potential if Sega intends to remake them.
So, what classic Sega games do these developers need to remake? Come on, see the list!
This game that combines real-time strategy and RPG was developed by Sega for the Sega Saturn console. One of the highlights of this game is a battle involving up to 200 soldiers fighting in real-time. This massive battle will remind you of one of the scenes in the Braveheart film.
If Sega intends to remake Dragon Force, they might have to take inspiration from one of the Fire Emblem series, namely Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. In addition, Sega also has to add deep connections with generals and provide more customization options in the remake version of Dragon Force.
This shooter game was originally a game for an arcade. Later, Sega shipped this game for Sega Saturn and PC. Virtua Cop is famous for its use of real-time polygonal graphics, which were later used by The House of the Dead and Time Crisis. The real-time nature of this game makes enemies react differently depending on where they are shot.
If Sega intends to remake Virtua Cop, the console that might be the most suitable for the remake version of Virtua Cop is the Nintendo Switch. You see, Joy-Con on the Nintendo Switch can make this game played in an arcade game style. Joy-con can be used as a “pistol” to shoot his enemies.
In the 90s, Sega also had a fighting game whose characters consisted of a collection of other Sega game characters, entitled Fighters Megamix. This game brings together various characters from Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, Virtua Cop 2, and Daytona USA.
This game will definitely be really fun if it is remake by Sega. If Sega intends to remake Fighters Megamix, at least Sega has to include more characters in it. This time, we’ll get to see a collection of characters from the game Bayonetta, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Yakuza fighting each other in the remake version of Fighters Megamix.
Skies of Arcadia
This RPG was developed for the Sega Dreamcast console. In this game, players play the role of Vyse who tries to stop the Valuan Empire from bringing back ancient weapons. This weapon turns out to have the potential to destroy the world. Skies of Arcadia is actually the best rated Dreamcast game. Unfortunately, this game did not succeed commercially.
The choice of Dreamcast as the gaming platform is the biggest factor in the unsuccessfulness of this game on the market. So, if only Sega intends to remake Skies of Arcadia and present this game on PS 4 or PC, it doesn’t rule out the possibility that this game could be commercially successful.
This shooter game was first released for Sega Genesis in 1993. This game is about The Gunstars, a family of mercenaries who try to stop the Empire. You see, the Empire is trying to revive the ancient weapon by using the power of the four gems hidden all over the planet.
For those of you who don’t know, this game has been named one of the best games of all time, you know. Supposedly, Sega shouldn’t hesitate to make a remake or a sequel to this game. Sega might be able to follow Konami and Tencent’s steps in bringing Contra back into a mobile game called Contra: Return.
